A good stitching weekend
This weekend, especially Sunday, was a great weekend in terms of stitching progress. I'm almost done with all but the very center of ScottLee. To be honest, many of the newly-added stitches were done in a single strand of pearl cotton, so they took much less time than laid stitches. I only had to use my laying tool for a few areas. In answer to a few recent questions:
- Mary & Cyn: I have no idea what I'm going to do with my Mystery in a Corner. The colors really are not my colors, and I chose them to step out of my comfort zone. I think it worked out really well, but the piece really doesn't work well in my house. Maybe I'll get it framed eventually if my tastes change, but for now it will sit with a pile of other unframed pieces in the old hope chest in my stitching room.
- Jane: I DO know what I will be doing with ScottLee, and sending it to you is not on the list! :-) This one will be made up as a tea tray, simply by framing it with glass (a rarity for me) and adding drawer pulls to the frame. I have no idea where I'm going to display it, but I love the piece so much I really need to do something with it.

This piece is unbelievable! I think a tea tray is a great idea!
The colors in the mystery block aren't really me, either, and I can relate to having a pile of finished, unfinished pieces that you just don't quite know what to do with. I usually fish things out of that pile for last minute gift ideas...!
This is beautiful, and you have made a great deal of progress! I think a tea tray is a wonderful idea--plus, you can put a ribbon through the handles and hang it on the wall when not in use!
I am not surprised that the ScottLee tea tray will not be coming to Chilly Hollow to live. It's really beautiful! I can't wait to see the final product because I can't find an image of a finished version anywhere.
As for the Mystery project, put it away. Eventually you will discover a recipient or use for it....

OK, so if Scott Lee is definitely going to become a tea tray, and remain at your house, then I guess there is nothing else for it, but for all of us to decend upon you for afternoon tea. Served on the tea tray of course! Prepare to be inundated!!!
It will take me a while to save up the airfare, so don't put the kettle on just yet.
It really is gorgeous, Jeanne.

No wonder Jane is disappointed in not getting ScottLee. It just gets better and better the more you finish. Count me in for tea one day when the tray is finished.
Hi Jeanne,
"Scottlee" is such a beautiful project and you made great progress this weekend!
Hmmmm... If "Mystery in a Corner" doesn't go with your colors I'm sure I can find a place for it in my home because it would work with my house colors... LOL!
I think it's a great idea to put it away until you know what to do with the project. Another thought is have you considered donating it to a local charitable organization who might be able to use it to decorate their facilities? Just a thought... :-)
And I do understand finishing the stitching on projects but not actually having them finished into anything... You ought to see my collection of stitched but unfinished projects! That's one of my goals for next year.
